Since
last 3 years Reformation Sports Foundation in support with Students Islamic
Organisation of India (SIO) and Youth Wing – Jamat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) Mumbra
is organizing a football tournament with the name Reformation Cup. Formerly the
tournament was bonded for Mumbra based Football teams only but looking towards
the growing interest and the increasing number of football fans, Reformation
Sports Foundation members this year planned and proposed an idea for the
acceptance of entrees from all over Maharashtra and Goa.
Response
received was very captivating as in all 24 teams participated and played with
12 teams from within Mumbra, another 12 from different regions of Mumbai like
Byculla (Milan FC), Vidyavihar (JDKM FC), Powai (IIT Bombay FC), Kalyan (Bengal
FC, I-FC), Goa (Reformation FC) and many
more.
Various
scholars and leaders of JIH, SIO, YW, and MVF were also seen during this two
day tournament. Ateeq ur rahman (Ex SIO National Secretary) briefly summarized the purpose
and importance of such games. He said that, we must play dedicatedly and
generate the quality of team spirit, sportsmanship and Humanity. He also
mention about injustice done to the people of Gaza and asked to unite and stand
keeping aside the extremism. He said a sport anyways teaches us the same.
Prof.
Javed Shaikh (President JIH Mumbra) also motivated the players asking them to
set a very fine and high goal for our life’s and prepare to achieve it.
Soon
after this teams approached towards the ground and continued with the matches.
Final game was played between Milan-B FC from Byculla and Reformation FC from
Goa on 24th August. It was a very interesting match been played
between the finalists making Milan-B FC the champion of Reformation Cup-2014 by
defeating Reformation FC with 4 goals.
