FOOTBALL TOURNEY HELD





Since last 3 years Reformation Sports Foundation in support with Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) and Youth Wing – Jamat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) Mumbra is organizing a football tournament with the name Reformation Cup. Formerly the tournament was bonded for Mumbra based Football teams only but looking towards the growing interest and the increasing number of football fans, Reformation Sports Foundation members this year planned and proposed an idea for the acceptance of entrees from all over Maharashtra and Goa.



Response received was very captivating as in all 24 teams participated and played with 12 teams from within Mumbra, another 12 from different regions of Mumbai like Byculla (Milan FC), Vidyavihar (JDKM FC), Powai (IIT Bombay FC), Kalyan (Bengal FC, I-FC), Goa (Reformation FC) and many more.



Teams played the matches in different groups for two days 23rd-24th August 2014 which came to an end with a closing ceremony on the evening of second day. All the matches were keenly presided by Mumbai’s renowned and a national Referee Mr. Luis.



Various scholars and leaders of JIH, SIO, YW, and MVF were also seen during this two day tournament. Ateeq ur rahman (Ex SIO National Secretary) briefly summarized the purpose and importance of such games. He said that, we must play dedicatedly and generate the quality of team spirit, sportsmanship and Humanity. He also mention about injustice done to the people of Gaza and asked to unite and stand keeping aside the extremism. He said a sport anyways teaches us the same.



Prof. Javed Shaikh (President JIH Mumbra) also motivated the players asking them to set a very fine and high goal for our life’s and prepare to achieve it.



Soon after this teams approached towards the ground and continued with the matches. Final game was played between Milan-B FC from Byculla and Reformation FC from Goa on 24th August. It was a very interesting match been played between the finalists making Milan-B FC the champion of Reformation Cup-2014 by defeating Reformation FC with 4 goals.


Winning Team Milan FC was honored with Champions trophy and a cash prize of 12,000 rupees. Runner up team Reformation FC was also rewarded with trophy and cash prize of 8,000 rupees. Along with this Best Goalkeeper trophy was offered to Fahad of Muslim United FC Team and Best Player trophy to Mohammed Saad Ansari of Milan-B FC.

Apart from all this there was also a Special Trophy for the Fair Played Team which was rewarded to Muslim United FC for their fair gaming in the whole tournament.
